The course was held at the Technological Park of the University of Porto, Porto, Portugal.The course was intense, like many activities with lectures and practical procedures involving various modern technologies in the area of aesthetics. The theoretical-practical activities in the classroom were coordinated by Prof. Layane Gracielly (INPOS, Goaiana, Brazil).However, in addition to activities at UPTEC, students and teachers made a technical visit to the i3S units (https://www.i3s.up.pt), an activity coordinated by Dr. Alexandra Placido (collaborating researcher at i3S and CEO of Bioprospectum). At this moment the group can perceive several lines of scientific investigation that can be applied in the cosmetic industry as for example studies in culture of cells of the nervous system.This was Bioprospectum's first initiative in a specialized course. The event happened on March 13, 2019 at the Health Sciences Center of the Federal University of Piaui.The meeting organized by the graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences and the Network Biotechnology of the Northeast (RENORBIO) aimed to promote the internationalization and the meeting of companies, students and professors in this theme and generation of new methodologies and products. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Alexandra Plácido, who spoke about current research on the discovery of new antioxidants and the company's insertion in academic collaborations with Brazil. In the sequence Dr. Jose Leite commented on the Bioprospecting of new molecules and the relation with in silico technologies in the discovery of new drugs these days. Finally, Dr. Daniel Arcanjo (organizer of the meeting) gave a lecture on vasoactive peptides and the partnerships of the UFPI with European centers such as University of Porto and Danish institutions.In addition to the lectures, the meeting had a public master's degree in the theme: "Involvement of the argininosuccinate synthetase enzyme in the vasorelaxative effect of BPP-BrachyNH2 peptide on endotoxin-induced endothelial dysfunction". The initial focus will be on antioxidants and substances with anti-inflammatory action.The first expeditions took place in Portugal, the country which headquarters the company, in the region of the Peneda-Geres National Park, which is the only national park in Portugal. It is located in the Norte region, in the northwest of Portugal, specifically in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, and Vila Real. The foothills of the Serra da Gerês, along with the foothills of the Serra da Cabreira, constitute the frontier between the Euro-Siberian and Mediterranean regions, conferring great floral and phytogeographical importance on the Peneda-Gerês (Proença, 2009).The expeditions took place in 2018. Among the species of greatest interest to the team is the Fire Salamander (Salamandra salamandra). The project is a partnership between the Institute for Investigation and Innovation in Health (i3S) and Bioprospectum, and it aims to survey the biotechnological potential of the anuran fauna of Portugal, to construct a germplasm bank and identify molecules with a potential for use in health. The event at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Brasilia and counted on the effective participation of Bioprospectum.Professor Jose Roberto Leite, a scientific consultant, was president of the scientific committee of the event and emphasizes the international participation and globalization of knowledge in the area as a determining factor for an innovation company to develop and consolidate, especially in the health area. Dr. Alexandra Plácido, also participated as a member of the scientific committee and the coordinating team of "Book Abstract", which will soon be published by the “Journal of Global Innovation - JGI” as a special edition of the journal in the coming months.Dr. Jaco Saraiva, a doctor and also a scientific consultant at Bioprospectum gave a closing lecture on "Innovating in Health and Precise: A World in Exponential Growth". Also on this day, Dr. Jaco Saraiva was also the coordinator of a meetup on health innovation with Brazilian companies in the education sector and social robots. Finally, the award for best oral presentation was given by the evaluation committee to a partnership between Bioprospectum, i3S of the University of Porto, University of Brasilia and MEDLIG of Barretos, São Paulo, in which a nanotechnological product is being developed using natural product for anti-inflammatory purposes of topical use.
